Costa Mesa lies directly in the heart of Orange County and is sometimes referred to as South Coast Metro area due to its proximity to South Coast Plaza and the Performing Arts Center. Working in Costa Mesa puts you right on the pulse of Orange County—close to freeways, shopping, restaurants, the airport and so much more! Let’s be honest, where we live and work sets the tone for our lives and ultimately, our happiness. If you’re setting up shop in Orange County, you should be asking yourself – Why not work somewhere amazing?
Here are the top five reasons why we think Costa Mesa is such a great place to establish your professional roots:
Puts you close to it all!
If you’re lucky enough to work at our TechSpace Costa Mesa site this locates you conveniently close to the 405, 73, 55 and 5 freeways. As you know, unless you want to sit in traffic for an hour every day, location is arguably one of the most important factors of a workplace and we want you to get as much out of your days as possible! Working in Costa Mesa you are literally minutes away from some of the best beaches in Southern California. Newport Beach anyone? Newport boasts eight miles of beautiful coastline where we’ve been known to occasionally dip our toes in the sand or head to the pier on our lunch break. Talk about an amazing view! Or if you’d prefer to head inland we are fans (understatement of the century) of the Downtown Santa Ana Historic District; for those of you who haven’t discovered this remarkable place yet it can best be described as a quaint cultural destination with top notch local cuisine and art galleries (hint: First Saturday Art Walk). If this isn’t enough to convenience you, you’re practically down the street from John Wayne Airport (SNA) which offers international flights as well as ample destinations within the continental US for your business travels.
West Coast’s Largest Mall
Need we say more? South Coast Plaza is the largest mall on the west coast filled with some of the finest upscale and designer shops in the world. South Coast Plaza is home to more than 280 businesses. No matter what your tastes are, there is literally something for everyone. Take a break from work, walk across the street, enjoy the beauty and tastefully designed plaza and pick up some newly released items from designer stores. If, like us, self-control isn’t your forte when it comes to shopping, then you’re going have plenty of chances to overindulge at Anthropologie, Hugo Boss and Cache just to name a few! You should also invite the family out for a quick lunch at Boudin SF and then bring the kids down to ride the carousel afterward (yes, we said carousel). Although, we love Boudin SF there’s also a huge variety (30 to be exact) of other amazing restaurants making it the perfect place to meet with a client or have dinner after work. You know what the best part is? TechSpace is located right across the street!
Everyone’s got to eat sometime right? Please do yourself a favor and eat somewhere great. At our time here in Costa Mesa, we’ve discovered these few delectable spots to get you started on your journey to gourmet wonder. Orange County’s number one restaurant, located within South Coast Plaza is Marche Moderne, this upscale French bistro offers the perfect classic setting to bring clients. Just up the way situated in the aforementioned Downtown Santa Ana Historic District is a delightful little American joint by the name of Modern One: The Local Modern. This place didn’t receive well over a thousand positive Yelp.com reviews for no reason! If you’re looking for recommendations you must start with the calamari and in terms of entrees the Beef Culotte is out of this world; this bacon wrapped sirloin is always a welcomed selection for us! Saving the best for last, Bosscat Kitchen and Libations, this is a relatively new fixture to the area, but its food and drink selection is amassing a following fast! The Bosscat Burger is hands down the best burger we’ve had in Orange County with ingredients such as: natural grass-fed beef sourced only from the mid-west, balsamic dipped lettuce, garlic mayonnaise and bacon pieces all on a fresh potato bun. We know people make the “best burger” claim a lot, which is why we don’t expect it to carry a lot of stock with you right now, so we invite you be the judge.
Enjoy the curated collection of SoCo
South Coast Collection, more popularly known as SoCo, is a progressive approach to curated design. The shopping center features a collection of specialty retailers in an artfully constructed space and is the home to many of the top eateries, boutiques and decor stores in the county. SoCo is only minutes away from TechSpace Costa Mesa, so it’s the perfect place for you to grab a carefully constructed cup of coffee at the Portola Coffee Lab before work or to shop for the most innovative house ware items available on the market at Organic Modernism.
Added Bonus! (The LAB & The CAMP)
Supporting the “Little American Business” is what the LAB is all about. This trendy center is an indoor-outdoor retail and dining plaza that hosts an eclectic variety of shops you cannot find anywhere else. It combats retail monotony with its unique gathering of small businesses and features a space geared for the young at heart. Naturally, we love it!
Right across the street from The LAB, The CAMP has a slightly different mission for its retail center: to offer wellness services, purposeful shopping and healthy dining options. Featuring the same artistic vibe as the LAB, the CAMP hosts film screenings, up-and-coming musicians, special events, and features stores that promote intentional living. It’s the ideal place to escape to for a temporary retreat and relax after a tough week at the office.
Honestly, there are just so many things to fall in love with in Costa Mesa. From the eclectic small businesses at the Camp and the LAB to the luxury collections of SoCo and South Coast Plaza, working at TechSpace Costa Mesa will put you close to it all.
